We are delighted to announce that the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a grant to Dr. Vessel and co-PI Michael Grossberg for their project entitled “Combining category learning with machine vision models to test aesthetic valuation.”
This 3-year project seeks to test an information-based theory of aesthetic value, using a combination of behavioral studies and machine learning. In addition to supporting the expenses of the basic research, the grant will also support faculty and student workshops on the use of machine learning in the behavioral sciences.
