Check out this new review paper, published with PhD student Hannah Ovadia, on “The role of the default-mode network in aesthetic appeal,” out now in Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences. In this short review, we cover recent work on the DMN as it relates to aesthetic appeal. We then evaluate several hypotheses for what role the DMN plays during these experiences, with a focus on sense-making.
